A wall-breaking ceremony, held January 10, kicked off a yearlong renovation project at Niles (Ill.) Public Library. Director Linda Weiss (far right) delivered opening remarks and highlighted changes, which will include dedicated spaces for teens and children in middle school, nine new study rooms, and a commons area with a vending café where visitors can browse new books and materials as well as purchase items from the Friends of the Niles Public Library book sale. Other features will include a new HVAC system and automated check-in and checkout equipment for materials. A sledgehammer was used to break a ceremonial wall on the third floor where the renovation work will begin.
