The best things in life are... unplanned - Member POV - Cindi Trainor’s Day 3
The two most incredible things I saw today happened in the Networking Uncommons. I suggested to Andromeda Yelton, creator of the CodeYear Connect community (connect.ala.org/codeyear), that she look into creating a LITA IG (www.ala.org/lita/involve/igs) related to the group. Two hours later, she had a printed petition, a cochair, several signatures, and an idea for a preconference. The group is having a meetup Monday from 10 to noon in the Networking Uncommons—bring your programming questions or your curiosity and hang out with like minds!

I love all the energy I saw today! People making new connections, new friends, and new things inside and outside their professional organization. What else is an organization like ALA for but to bring its members together, exactly in this way? :)
And a LITA plug before I go: In tomorrow’s Town Meeting, we are going to have three topics for the room to discuss:
- what is the value that participation in professional associations in general and LITA in particular provide;
- how LITA can provide support for developing leadership skills in emerging technology leaders;
- where and how should LITA provide support for development of technology skills?
