CHICAGO — The American Library Association, International Papers and Projects Committee invites proposals for presentations to be made at the next ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.  Presentations will be delivered at the International Papers and Projects Session scheduled for June 29, 2013.

CHICAGO — Nominations are being sought for the ALA Presidential Citation for Innovative International Library Projects.  Nominations must be submitted to ALA's International Relations Office by Dec. 1.

Jane Kinney Meyers receives 2012 John Ames Humphry/OCLC/Forest Press Award

CHICAGO — Jane Kinney Meyers is this year’s recipient of the American Library Association (ALA) International Relations Committee’s John Ames/Humphry/OCLC/ Forest Press Award.

OCLC/Forest Press donated the cash award of $1,000, which is given to an individual for significant contribution to international librarianship.

2012 ALA Presidential Citations for Innovative International Library Projects announced

CHICAGO — Every year, libraries across the world introduce - and sustain - projects that make a difference to their citizens and connect the international community in genuine and new ways.  

The 2012 recipients of the ALA Presidential Citation for Innovative International Library Projects are:

<p> PORT-AU-PRINCE--&ldquo;Two years after the earthquake, vast numbers of Haitian people are still struggling just to return to something resembling normal life,&rdquo; says Leonard Kniffel, who returned March 5 from Port-au-Prince after a week of talks with librarians and government officials about the American Library Association&rsquo;s Haiti Library Relief fund. &ldquo;Our dollars are making a difference,&rdquo; he said, &ldquo;but the need is so vast that we have to focus our efforts on sustainable projects that will advance the nation&rsquo;s recovery from one of the largest natural disasters on record.&rdquo;</p>

CHICAGO - The American Library Association (ALA) is accepting nominations for the 2012 John Ames Humphry/ OCLC/Forest Press Award for International Librarianship. The award is given to a librarian or person who has made significant contributions to international librarianship. It consists of a prize of $1,000 and a certificate presented at the ALA Annual Conference.
