ALA Cultural Communities Fund to sponsor $5,000 award for excellence in library programming

CHICAGO — The American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office announced today that the ALA Cultural Communities Fund is the new sponsor for the ALA Excellence in Library Programming Award.

The award will recognize a library (public, academic, school or special) that demonstrates excellence in library programming by developing and presenting a cultural or thematic program or program series during the previous year.&nbsp; More <a href="http://www.ala.org/programming/programmingexcellence" target="_blank">information and nomination forms</a> for the 2013 ALA Excellence in Library Programming Award are available online. Nominations now accepted for Sara Jaffarian School Library Program Award

Apply by Dec. 15 to receive $4,000, national recognition for program model

<p> CHICAGO &mdash;The American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Sara Jaffarian School Library Program Award for Exemplary Humanities Programming. School libraries, public or private, that served children in any combination of grades K-8 and conducted humanities programs during the 2011-2012 school year are eligible. Applications and award guidelines are available at <a href="http://www.ala.org/jaffarianaward">www.ala.org/jaffarianaward</a>. To be considered, nominations must be received by the ALA Public Programs Office by Dec. 15.</p>
