Preservation Week publicity tools encourage everyone to “Pass It On”

CHICAGO – With Preservation Week just around the corner, the American Library Association (ALA) is offering online resources to help public, academic and school libraries publicize their activities.
The promotional effort for this year’s Preservation Week, held Apr. 24-30, is coordinated by ALA’s Public Information Office (PIO) and the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS). It includes a number of online tools libraries can use to create and publicize Preservation Week activities: logos, press release tips, event ideas, and speakers’ bureau information.
The Preservation Week theme of “Pass It On @ Your library” encourages people to learn how to care for their collections.
Started just last year, Preservation Week, sponsored by ALCTS, has inspired libraries around the U.S. to provide educational sessions and create displays that teach visitors ways to care for their precious collections and pass them on.

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission is pleased to join the American Library Association in celebrating the association’s second annual Preservation Week April 24-30. The commission has created and made available new preservation web pages available at http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/arc/preserve/index.html.
The site includes preservation tips, topical preservation pages, FAQs, and our conservator’s blog. Pass it on!
