Following up on the success of joint membership programs for library students and support staff, the American Library Association (ALA), and the Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF) announce a new Joint Trustee Membership program with ALA Chapters (state library associations). Trustees new to ALA and the Chapter can join three great organizations for only $100, a 30 percent discount. Five ALA Chapters have already signed up to participate.
Student membership is a special discounted membership available for students engaged in a program of study or certification in MLS/ MLIS, NCATE, or LTA programs for no more than 5 total years of eligibility. This special dues rate is designed to help you access the benefits, networking, and career resources that come with membership. Student Members, whether full- or part-time, are also given the best rates for conference registration, often at discounts as high as 75 percent off. Student Members are eligible to serve on committees, run for office, and participate actively in the work of the association.
Membership in ALA is open to all librarians, library workers, trustees, friends of libraries, and library supporters; libraries and other non-profits; and corporations that serve the library community in the United States and abroad. You are invited to join ALA as a Personal, Organizational, or Corporate member.
For more information about joint memberships, contact the ALA Chapter Relations Office.
