The 2012 Emerging Leaders Team G is exploring ways to transform and extend the former American Library Association (ALA) annual volunteer service day, Libraries Build Communities, into Librarians Build Communities (LBC).
Between Thanksgiving and the last days of December 2011, students in East Carolina University’s Master of Library Science department, in Greenville, North Carolina, gathered 239 books and materials to donate to homeless shelters, after-school programs, hospitals, and libraries in communities throughout North Carolina.
The 2011 ALA Student Chapters Survey was conducted over a three-month period (July 2011 through October 2011). The results are in and can be found posted at the Student Chapter Leadership group on ALA Connect. Thanks to everyone who completed this 20-minute survey.
