Miriam Tuliao didn’t learn how to swim until she was in her 40s. Now the 56-year-old library marketing manager at Penguin Random House is an open-water masters swimmer. On August 6, Tuliao competed at New York’s Rockaway Beach, where she helped raise more than $1,400 for the ALA Spectrum Scholarship program, which helps promote diversity in the library profession. Tuliao spent more than 20 years in public libraries, formerly working at New York Public Library and Brooklyn Public Library.
