ALA announced on April 7 that Maria McCauley, director of libraries at Cambridge (Mass.) Public Library, has been elected 2025–2026 president-elect of ALA. McCauley received 5,483 votes. Her opponent, Lindsay Cronk, dean of libraries at Tulane University in New Orleans, received 2,665 votes. McCauley provided a statement that read, in part: “I am honored to be elected president of the American Library Association for 2026–2027 and grateful to everyone who voted.” Larry Neal, director of Clinton-Macomb (Mich.) Public Library, has been elected ALA treasurer for 2025–2028.
