Cynthia Richardson Johnson writes: “This research provides three potential actionable steps in recruitment and retention. First, develop strategic recruitment and retention plans to address the needs of current Black female school librarians. Next, professional organizations should create intentional safe spaces, such as meet-ups or affinity groups, where Black female school librarians can build meaningful connections, share experiences, and support one another. Finally, mentorship initiatives tailored to Black women in school librarianship should be established to provide guidance, encouragement, and professional development opportunities.”
