Rebuilding After Tragedy

Lyons (Colo.) Community Library

In 2013, flooding in Lyons, Colorado, destroyed the small town’s public library, which was housed in a historic railroad depot. After six years of fundraising and rebuilding, the new Lyons Community Library opened its doors on the anniversary of the flood to serve as a symbol of the town’s resilience. Central to the library’s design is a large community room for live music, theatrical performances, and town meetings.
