Pierson Library in Shelburne, Vermont

Connected to Shelburne’s newly restored historic town hall, the new Pierson Library replaces a smaller building that suffered from moisture and air-quality problems. Designed for net-zero energy, the library features high-performance mechanical systems and building envelope. Using passive daylighting strategies, local and recycled materials, rooftop solar panels, and onsite stormwater treatment, the public library expects to save approximately $200,000 in lifetime energy costs.
