Gates $1 Million Award Goes to Arid Lands Information Network

The Arid Lands Information Network, which operates 12 Maarifa, or Knowledge, Centers in remote areas of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, won the 2011 Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Access to Learning Award. In this video, James Nguo of ALIN addresses the IFLA World Library and Information Congress and speaks to the American Library Association's Leonard Kniffel about the award and what it will mean for east Africa.
