ALA’s Spectrum Presidential Initiative recently reached its goal of $1 million in donations and celebrated with a cake shortly after the exhibits opened June 22 at ALA Annual Conference in Anaheim, California.
Spectrum, an initiative dedicated to diversity and recruitment in the library profession, is chaired by former ALA President Betty J. Turock. It supports master’s-level scholarships, provides two $25,000 doctoral scholarships, increases the Spectrum Endowment to ensure the program’s future, and develops special programs for recruitment and career development.
