Lois Mai Chan, 80, a professor at the University of Kentucky School of Library and Information Science for 40 years, died August 20. She was also the author of ten books on cataloging and received the Margaret Mann Citation for outstanding professional achievement in cataloging or classification in 1989. Other awards included the Beta Phi Mu Award for Distinguished Service to Education in Librarianship in 2006, the University of Kentucky Alumni Association Great Teaching Award in 1980, and the Florida State University SLIS Distinguished Alumni Award in 1996. She also gave lectures worldwide, and her achievements were celebrated in a 2014 video by the Chinese American Librarians Association and a team of ALA Emerging Leaders.
