Judith Hopkins, 80, cataloger at the State University of New York at Buffalo for 27 years until her 2004 retirement, died August 8 of lymphoma. Hopkins was the list owner for the AUTOCAT cataloging and authorities discussion group, and received the 2006 Margaret Mann Citation in recognition of outstanding achievement in cataloging and classification. In 1985, she was the first technical services librarian to win the State University of New York Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Librarianship. Hopkins authored a number of books and articles on cataloging. She was also the first librarian hired to work at OCLC in the early 1970s, and later taught at the University of Michigan School of Library and Information Studies.
