Christine Wigfall Morris, 92, the first African American librarian at Clearwater (Fla.) Public Library, died December 7. Morris joined the library in 1949 and directed the designated "Negro Library" in 1950 until it was replaced with a standalone building in 1962. She continued working for the library until her 1982 retirement, and the African American collection at the library's North Greenwood branch was named in her honor in 2003.
