Waynnhall “Waynn” Pearson, 72, director of Cerritos (Calif.) Millennium Library from 1981 until his 2006 retirement, died January 31. Under his leadership, the library was expanded and rebranded as an “experience library” with enhanced book collections, integrated technology, and rich learning environments. This vision earned the library the ALA/American Institute of Architects’ Award of Excellence, as well as honors from Los Angeles magazine, Reader’s Digest, and L.A. Parent magazine. Before joining Cerritos Library, Pearson served as a librarian at Pomona Public Library and Ontario Public Library in California.
