NEA Offering Grants up to $20,000 for Library Reading Programs

November 30, 2009

Received a handsome postcard in this morning's snail mail—a reminder that the National Endowment for the Arts is still accepting applications from nonprofit organizations to conduct month-long, community-wide reads through June 2011. Called "The Big Read," the program offers grants ranging from $2,500 to $20,000 for reading programs "designed to revitalize the role of literature in American culture." In addition to the money, the organization will receive access to online training resources, educational and promotional materials, and inclusion in the Big Read website. Approximately 75 organizations from across the country will be selected by a panel of experts. Guidelines and instructions are available on the website.
