Alta Eisenpress, 87, librarian at Evelyn and Monte Daniels Memorial Library’s Temple Israel Center in While Plans, New York, died February 19.

Nan Stormont Vaaler, former director of Napa City–County (Calif.) Library until her retirement in 1990, died March 13, after a brief illness. Before becoming director at Napa, she was instrumental in establishing the Lake County Library. Vaaler served several terms as chair of the North Bay Cooperative Library System; president of the California Society of Librarians, a chapter of the California Library Association; and as a member of the Napa Library Foundation Board.

Barbara A. Sullivan, 75, former librarian at Woodbridge (N.J.) Public Library before retiring in 1996, died April 18.

Geraldine Garst Stigile, 93, former teacher-librarian in Boonsboro, Virginia, and librarian in Wilmington, Connecticut, died April 20.

Delores "Dee" Pretlow, 66, director of L. Douglas Wilder Library and Resource Center,Virginia Union University in Richmond, died April 17, from complications of corrective surgery. She joined the library after retiring as assistant superintendent of operations for the Richmond school system, where she also served as director of libraries.

Mike Jobling, librarian at Ilkeston Public Library in Derbyshire County, United Kingdom, died after a long battle with heart trouble. He worked at the library for more than 30 years, becoming a keen local historian.

Elizabeth (Powers) Hehir, 91, retired head librarian at Norwood (Mass.) High School until her retirement in 1988, died April 5. She also worked as a librarian at Boston Public Library.

Mary Lou (Noble) Fry, 76, former librarian at Cobb Public Library Systems in Marietta, Georgia, died April 13, after a long illness.

Laura Ellis, 44, librarian at Canton (Miss.) School of Arts and Sciences, was killed April 19, when her car hit an 18-wheeler. She died at the scene.
