A raucous, standing-room-only crowd of about 250 stayed after the closing of the exhibit hall to watch Jason Griffey win the Battledecks competition.

Battledecks is a not-completely-serious contest in which participants give a presentation  based on slides they’ve never seen before on a topic they get minutes beforehand. The results are frequently hilarious and often surprisingly insightful.

Lisa Carlucci Thomas was runner-up in the competition, while JP Porcaro took third. Watch for all the extemporaneous competitions on AL Focus in the coming days.

Battledecks was sponsored by the Learning Round Table and American Libraries.

Kudos to Janie Hermann for organizing Battledecks

Thanks for the coverage of Battledecks, it was INCREDIBLE.  Just want to give a special shout out to Janie Hermann who organized the program spent countless hours putting it all together.  If anyone enjoyed themselves at the event (or vicariously through the videos), please know that Janie worked her butt of to make this happen for you!
