#alamw13 Top Ten Tweets: An #ALAyma Love Bomb

January 28, 2013

As you may have heard, the Youth Media Awards were announced this morning. (See the full list of winners.)

In fact, the Newbery, Caldecott, Printz, Belpre, and other Youth Media Awards made a big splash on Twitter today—enough that we've got a bonus edition of the Top Ten Tweets dedicated to it.

Not surprisingly, Twitterers loved the winners (although some were disappointed that their favorites were overlooked). Perhaps less expected was the outpouring of love for the room’s disco lighting, the mixed reviews for the music, and the absolute raves for YALSA President Jack Martin (@jacksondevious) presenting the young adult portion of the ceremony.

Without futher ado, the Top Ten Tweets:

"Please accept the love bomb of the crowd." OMG, I LOVE the Yalsa presenter soooooo much! #alamw13 #alayma

Whoever's working the light board in here is awesome! #ALAyma

I like that half of the trending topics on Twitter are because of the #alayma - In Darkness, Aristotle and Dante, Printz, Electric Ben

Hey, this is my 3000th tweet! Less than 15 minutes to #alayma! still listening to that awful elevator music. #librarianproblems

Announcement that there were five Caldecott honor books received a more vocal response than the re-election of the President. #ALAyma

And this is why ALA should release short lists. Get librarians and public more involved (and prepared!) Sigh.

Love that literally NO ONE has read Aristotle and Dante as it nabs gong after gong at #ALAyma #alayma13 Get reading folks

Sometimes I wish #ALAyma award announcements included a half time show with choreography inspired by the winning books.

I'm consoling myself over the fact that John Green already has many awards. He doesn't need another Printz. #ALAyma

Can I just keep tweeting "IVAN IVAN IVAN" for the rest of the day? #ALAMW13 #alayma

And as a bonus, the unintended consequences of having a Newbery in the house:

I am married to the 2013 Newbury winner, @kaaauthor who will now make me do dishes for the rest of 2013. #ALAyma
