Annual 2019 Top Ten Tweets – Day 1

June 22, 2019

It was officially day one of #alaac19! It was a day full of swag, learning and Jason Reynolds.

First you had to pick up your badge and you may need a reprint to fix an error or two.

Once you download the app, you have to put together your schedule, which is a lot harder than it looks.

Why am I so bad at deciphering conference schedules? Can I just follow someone around to all the good stuff tomorrow? #ALAAC19

ALA is wild. Today I went to #GODORT 101, and also lost my mind on badge ribbons and free books. Need to pace myself tomorrow. #alaac19

Then it was finally time for Jason Reynolds, who probably inspired us for the rest of the year.

"Maybe what librarians really are are architects. And maybe what your libraries are are warehouses where we build human libraries. Walking, talking, libraries."

@JasonReynolds83 is one of THE BEST storytellers I have EVER heard! Like for real!

But not before a little advocacy work first.

Such a fun day today supporting @ALALibrary @alaannual at their #ALAac19! I even got a temporary face tattoo. Text Library to 52886 to #FundLibraries

After a full day of learning, it was time to hit the exhibits and possibly say “hi” to some old friends.

I am getting used to greet this girl every year at #alaac19 Every year she remembers me the wonderful Peruvian girl she used to work with. This time I told her: I already know the story! We laughed.

After the exhibits closed it was time to fangirl at head to the receptions and events.

It's only the first real night of #alaac19 and I am STAR STRUCK. @angiecthomas @brownbookworm @WriteinBK and @NicolaYoon all at the same table at the Coretta Scott King reception.

#alaac19 Honoring our AILA leaders and elders tonight was a special moment.

To our #alaleftbehind folks: we envy your ability to play Wizards Unite this weekend.

The library is organizing an #alaleftbehind effort to dominate Wizards Unite while our colleagues are away.
